Method for determining the concentration of adsorbed protein and cell biomass in cellulose fermentations

, : Method for determining the concentration of adsorbed protein and cell biomass in cellulose fermentations. Biotechnology and Bioengineering 20(9): 1501-1506

A method for determining the concentration of adsorbed protein and cell biomass in cellulose fermentation was developed. It is based on 2 N determinations, 1 based on Lowry protein and 1 based on a Kjeldahl assay. The method was tested using Thermoactinomyces vulgaris as a source of cellulase and single cell protein in a Avicel fermentation.
