Neurohistological changes of neurons and their processes in the sinus node and the structural state of the supplying artery in sudden cardiac death

, : Neurohistological changes of neurons and their processes in the sinus node and the structural state of the supplying artery in sudden cardiac death. Soobshcheniya Akademii Nauk Gruzinskoi SSR 112(3): 641-644

On the basis of a study of 54 cases of sudden death, it is apparent that acute and chronic structural changes take place in the sinus node. Acute changes develop during anginal attacks and in the process of occurrence of death. Chronic changes precede the fatal accident and play an important role in the formation of the dysfunction in the sinus node. The dysfunction of the node in the emergency state contributes to the development of dysrhythmia and formation of favorable conditions for a complete arrest of its activity.
