New genera and species of the holaxonian family chrysogorgiidae octocorallia gorgonacea

, : New genera and species of the holaxonian family chrysogorgiidae octocorallia gorgonacea. Zoologische Mededelingen (Leiden) 50(5): 65-90

STEPHANOGORGIA wainwrighti, a shallow-water species from the Fiji Islands, is designated as type of a new genus. S. diomedea from the Sulu Archipelago and S. faulkneri (Bayer) (= Trichogorgia faulkneri Bayer) are described. Trichogorgia lyra from the Caribbean Sea supports the synonymy of Malacogorgia Hickson with Trichogorgia Hickson, recently proposed by Kukenthal. XENOGORGIA SCIURUS is proposed for an unusual species from South Africa having a colonial form different from all chrysogorgiids previously known.
