Newcastle disease virus ndv strains of the vaccine lasota type isolated from poultry flocks with respiratory symptoms identification with monoclonal antibodies

, : Newcastle disease virus ndv strains of the vaccine lasota type isolated from poultry flocks with respiratory symptoms identification with monoclonal antibodies. Magyar Allatorvosok Lapja 43(5): 267-271

Fifty-eight lentogenic NDV strains were isolated from 4-6 weeks old broiler flocks, as well as from some turkey and pheasant flocks, the majority of which were vaccinated with the LaSota vaccine via the drinking water 2-3 weeks earlier. All the flocks were affected with respiratory symptoms. Two lentogenic virus strains were isolated from the brain of the affected chickens, the other ones from the respiratory organ. At least four strains were isolated from nonvaccinated flocks (among them from pheasants and turkeys). The virus strains were identified by a LaSota strain-specific monoclonal antibody (La-1). Since 1970, when LaSota vaccine replaced the B-1 vaccine, exclusively LaSota type virus strains have been isolated from natural cases.
