Nitrate transport in the mutants of anacystis nidulans exhibiting alterations in cyanophage as 1 adsorption methylene blue uptake and drug sensitivity

, : Nitrate transport in the mutants of anacystis nidulans exhibiting alterations in cyanophage as 1 adsorption methylene blue uptake and drug sensitivity. Biologisches Zentralblatt 105(5): 531-537

.**GRAPHIC**. uptake exhibited Michaelis-Menten type kinetics with saturation point at 90 .mu.M of .**GRAPHIC**. Lineweaver-Burk plot of the data showed an apparent Km of 250 .mu.M and Vmax of 12.5 nmol mg-1 protein min-1; this suggests the existence of a carrier mediated transport system. A comparative account of .**GRAPHIC**. uptake in mutants revealed that mutants differed among themselves in terms of affinity (Km) and uptake capacity (Vmax), suggesting genetic control of the transport process. Experiments on cyanophage AS-1 adsorption, methylene-blue uptake and drug sensitivity in the mutants revealed the probability of cell wall alteration in the mutants.
