Ornithine metabolism and adaptation to increased muscular activity

, : Ornithine metabolism and adaptation to increased muscular activity. Fiziologicheskii Zhurnal SSSR Imeni I. M. Sechenova 65(7): 979-984

Muscular activity leads to consecutive activation of arginase, ornithine decarboxylase and ornithine-.alpha.-ketoglutarate transaminase in rat muscles and to increases of spermidine and spermine contents. These changes are more obvious during muscular activity associated with considerable efforts and in the period of restitution afterwards. Muscular activity creates the conditions for activation of adaptive protein synthesis.
