, : Persistence of pineal photo sensory function in blind cave fish astyanax mexicanus. Comparative Biochemistry & Physiology A 73(1): 125-128

The light elicited hyperpolarizing response was recorded from the pineal vesicle of blind cave fish, A. mexicanus. This response was an intracellular receptor potential due to its electrical features. Threshold value, intensity-response relation and spectral response were measured. The pineal organ of the blind cave fish has almost the same photosensory function as that of normal fish.
