Poly ploidy in bone marrow and in spermatogenic epithelium in mink males of different fertility

, : Poly ploidy in bone marrow and in spermatogenic epithelium in mink males of different fertility. Genetika 17(5): 858-872

The frequency of polyploid cells both in bone marrow and spermatogenic epithelium was analyzed in 2-yr-old mink males having a high and low level of embryonic and early postnatal mortality of their progeny. The decrease in fertility is associated with the increase in frequency of polyploidy in bone marrow and that of polyploid spermatogonial metaphases and metaphase II of meiosis. Correlation between the frequencies of polyploidy in bone marrow and spermatogenic epithelium was found. The disturbance of hormonal regulation may be regarded as one of the possible causes for the increase in polyploidy frequency in minks with reduced fertility.
