Proteins and lipo proteins of sheep blood serum

, : Proteins and lipo proteins of sheep blood serum. Acta Veterinaria (Belgrade) 29(3-4): 147-154

A number of protein, lipoprotein and lipid components were determined in blood serum of 24 female and 6 male sheep. The estimated levels of main protein electrophoretic fractions are comparable to the levels of corresponding sera constituents in other mammals. The same was true for lipid components, although a wide variability of data was observed. The only difference in the levels of investigated constituents between sexes was in albumins and .gamma.-globulins percentages, i.e., a slightly lower percentage of albumins in female sera was associated with a higher (P < 0.001) percentage of .gamma.-globulins. Also, phospholipid concentrations in male sera were significantly higher (P < 0.001) in comparison to the female sera.
