Representation in the fore brain of the scheltopusik ophiasaurus apodus

, : Representation in the fore brain of the scheltopusik ophiasaurus apodus. Zhurnal Evolyutsionnoi Biokhimii i Fiziologii 12(1): 95-98

Visual, somatic, auditory and tectal representation in the hippocampal cortex were found in electrophysiological experiments on the legless lizard O. apodus. All the mentioned modalities except auditory were represented in the anterior half of the striatum. Wide overlapping of various projections and convergence of impulses of different modalities in common neurons were typical of the hyppocampal cortex. The latter was responsive to tones ranging from 100-15,000 H2. There may be a difference in the organization of afferent representation in the telencephalic pallium of Squamata (lizards) and other reptiles including Chelonia and Crocodilia.
