Studies on the karyotype of paramphistomum microbothrium

, : Studies on the karyotype of paramphistomum microbothrium. Khelmintologiya 16: 37-41

The karyotype of P. microbothrium (on materials from Egypt) was studied. The chromosome number in the diploid cells is 2n = 18. Each chromosome differs from the remaining ones significantly to a different degree of probability (from P < 0.05 to P < 0.001). The chromosomes are divided by the centromere into 2 arms. The 5th pair of chromosomes is metacentric having centromere index 45.23%, the 1st one is submetacentric with centromere index 38.24%. The remaining chromosomes have a slightly elongated short arm. The 9th homologous pair is heteromorphic; the 2 homologs have different dimensions. A secondary constriction of the long arm on one of the 2nd homologous pair was established.
