Study of diabetes mellitus incidence

, : Study of diabetes mellitus incidence. Problemy Endokria 22(2): 27-31

Diabetes mellitus incidence was studied among the population of Dushanbe [Tadzhik SSR, USSR]. TTH test [glucose tolerance test] was used to examine 8768 persons. Morbidity index was 15.46/1000 residents. This index increased with age from 0.36 in the 15-29 yr age group to 81.06/1000 residents in the .gtoreq. 60 yr age group. The ratio of the morbidity indexes of the manifest and latent forms of diabetes mellitus is 1.13:1 (8.68 and 6.78/1000 residents, respectively). With the TTH test the total morbidity index was 3.1 times greater than that according to the number of applications for medical aid to the therapeutic-prophylactic institutions of the town.
