The potential use of a new ESR method for the dating of subfossil shells is discussed on an example from the northern part of the East-European Plain. A variant of the ESR technique, elaborated at the Institute of Geology of the Academy of Sciences of the Estonian SSR [USSR], is described and the Eemian age of the Boreal transgression proved.
