The cytology of gregarines endocytosis exocytosis organelles of metabolism

, : The cytology of gregarines endocytosis exocytosis organelles of metabolism. Archiv fuer Protistenkunde 123(4): 391-405

Endocytosis of compact particles in gregarines is distinguished from already known cytological models. The exocytosis of plasma portions occurs by simple splitting of the epicyte folds. The pores of pinocytosis appear continuous. Microtubules approach both sides of the syzygial connection between 2 gamonts. The species' degree of parasitism depends on the figures of epimerites, their durability and equipment with organelles. The reduced number and simplified inner structure of mitochondria in gregarines of the family Gregarinidae express a changed metabolism. Polyribosomal complexes are not bound with the endoplasmic reticulum. This reticulum itself is slightly developed. The small number of dictyosomes seems to produce glycogen.
