The effect of the time and method of application of phytohormones on wheat ear finished on a detached stem

, : The effect of the time and method of application of phytohormones on wheat ear finished on a detached stem. Rostlinna Vyroba 32(12): 1263-1270

The ears of wheat with part of the last internode of the 'Regina' variety were, from the beginning of anthesis, finished in water culture. The method and time of application of phytohormones were displayed in influencing the reproduction process, particularly the formation of the number of developed grains and in successive changes in weight of ears. In comparison with application of phytohormones to nutrient solution, it proved more effective to immerse the ear into a solution with growth hormones. This was displayed in a significantly higher number of the developed grains in spikelets and higher effectiveness of the production process (the proportion of grain weight to the total weight of ear, or spikelets). Influencing the process as stated above was conditioned by an early application of phytohormones after anthesis. Application after 10-15 days since anthesis was displayed in decreased productivity, number and weight of ears.
