The morphological and histochemical evaluation of the stroma of epithelial mucinous neoplasms of the ovary in women

, : The morphological and histochemical evaluation of the stroma of epithelial mucinous neoplasms of the ovary in women. Ginekologia Polska 50(7): 597-600

The morphological pattern and the histochemical reactions in the connective tissue stroma of benign cystadenomata of the ovaries were studied. The specimens were collected during 43 ovariectomies. The examinations demonstrated an active participation of the stroma in the biological processes of the developing neoplasms. The changes may be due to the stromal reaction to the neoplastic process and to a disturbance of control mechanisms of the physiological equilibrium between the stroma and the epithelium of the developing tumor.
