The plasma inhibitors of plasminogen activator studied by a zymographic technique

, : The plasma inhibitors of plasminogen activator studied by a zymographic technique. Thrombosis Research 38(3): 261-268

A zymographic technique for the detection of inhibitors of plasminogen activators was applied to the analysis of [human] plasma. Two inhibitors were demonstrated; 1 inhibited plasmin with consequent apparent inhibition of urokinase and tissue-type plasminogen activator activity; it was identified as .alpha.2-antiplasmin. The 2nd inhibitor, as yet unidentified, had a MW of about 40K. It inhibited urokinase and tissue-type plasminogen activator but had no effect on plasmin.
