Therapeutical auditing review of the cefotaxime i.v. prescription criteria

, : Therapeutical auditing review of the cefotaxime i.v. prescription criteria. Farmacia Clinica 4(3): 224, 229-230, 232-234, 236-238

Therapeutical auditing is one of the systems used in hospitals in order to achieve more rationalized therapy. The auditing procedure must establish the therapeutical criteria to be studied, which is the bases of the comparison of the cases under review. The operational criteria of the auditing rely on a deep review of the literature on the subject, which facilitate drawing conclusions to the questions raised by the auditing procedure. The auditing is performed by the application of a protocol. The ulterior analysis of this protocol shall give rise to a report, as well as the necessary measures to solve any problems present, the obtention of statistical information and the generalization of results for improving patient care. We present in this report, our experience in the development of a Therapeutical Auditing Procedure for Cefotaxim i.v., from data obtained from pharmacotherapeutical information sheets, and clinical histories from one of the services at our hospital, in a retrospective manner with the subsequent evaluation of the data obtained based on pre-determined criteria.

Here, we examine the influence of a su...
