Treatment of depression associated with Briquet's syndrome

, : Treatment of depression associated with Briquet's syndrome. American Journal of Psychiatry 138(3): 373-376

Although depression appears to be common in patients with Briquet's syndrome, there is a paucity of literature dealing with the efficacy of treatment of this depression and the effect of treatment on the overall course of the illness. Two case histories were presented demonstrating the effectiveness of treatment of depression secondary to Briquet's syndrome with antidepressant medications [imipramine, doxepin tranylcypromine and amitriptyline], which resulted in an improvement of the various aspects of the primary illness.
