Urease and phosphatase in the rhizospheres of different mesta hibiscus sp genotypes

, : Urease and phosphatase in the rhizospheres of different mesta hibiscus sp genotypes. Journal of the Indian Society of Soil Science 29(4): 469-472

The distribution of urease, acid and alkaline phosphatases [important in N and P nutrition] under field conditions at different ages of 9 mesta [H. sabdariffa, H. radiatus, H. pendurafurmis, H. acetosella, H. fungense] genotypes was investigated. The rhizosphere in all cases had higher amounts of urease and acid phosphatase. Alkaline phosphatase was not significantly affected by plants. H. sabdariffa cv. AMV-1 accumulated the most enzymes in the rhizosphere. The crop age of 20-30 days was optimum for the accumulation of enzymes in rhizosphere soil.
