Use of models in evaluation of fertility dynamics: a review

, : Use of models in evaluation of fertility dynamics: a review. Genus 33(1-2): 49-71

Various models to represent aspects of population change are reviewed; special emphasis is placed on models relevant to fertility and family planning. These include population projection models and models of the reproductive process. Models dealing with the operation of family planning programs and with economic demographic relations are reviewed very briefly. The uses of models in studying properties of fertility measures, investigating data collection systems, conducting quasi-experiments, and in other applications are examined.
