Vegetation maps of the swedish mountains

, : Vegetation maps of the swedish mountains. Svensk Botanisk Tidskrift 75(3): 147-155

The 1st mapping of vegetation over large areas in Sweden (66,000 km2) will result in 22 maps in the scale of 1:100,000 which will cover the Swedish mountains. The mapping is based on air photo interpretation of IR film and a limited field work. Ten alpine vegetation types (heaths and meadows), 3 subalpine types of birch forest, 3 types of coniferous forest and 6 types of mire are distinguished. On each map there is a circle diagram showing the vegetation types in percent of the mapped area. There is also a general description of the vegetation within the map and small scale maps of topography, bedrock and interesting botanical areas.
