Vessels in rhizome of marsilea

, : Vessels in rhizome of marsilea. Phytomorphology 27(2): 206-208

A study of tracheary elements of M. quadrifolia, M. hirsuta, M. minuta, M. quadrifolia, M. poonensis, M. alfisinensis, M. pubescans, M. drummondii and M. elata] has revealed vessel elements in roots of all, but rhizomes of only 2 Australian spp. M. drummondii and M. elata, contain vessel elements. In the rhizome of the other species are also found cells resembling tracheids with bordered pits and sieve tube elements but they differ in size and structure and so they are used for species identification.
