Antiviral effect of carrageenans on hepatitis a virus replication in vitro

, : Antiviral effect of carrageenans on hepatitis a virus replication in vitro. Travaux Scientifiques des Chercheurs du Service de Sante des Armees (12): 79-80

Iota-, lambda-, and kappa- carrageenans showed a significant inhibitory effect against HAV replication in PLC/PRF/5 cells from 2 .mu.g/ml after 15 days of treatment at 32.degree.C. With the same conditions, no significant effect on cell viability and cell RNA synthesis was observed, up to 500 .mu.g/ml. After 3 days of treatment at 37.degree.C, viability and DNA synthesis of cells were not affected up to 200 .mu.g/ml.
