Comparison between peepers and benthic chamber methods for the measurement of nutrient fluxes at the water sediment interface

, : Comparison between peepers and benthic chamber methods for the measurement of nutrient fluxes at the water sediment interface. Comptes Rendus de l'Academie des Sciences Serie III Sciences de la Vie 313(6): 239-244

A comparison between two methods of sediment water fluxes measurement was undertaken in July 1990, in the Etang du Prevost (shallow Mediterranean lagoon). A ratio of 5 for NH4+ fluxes and 30 for PO4 fluxes between the peepers and the benthic chamber methods was estimated. This discrepancy shows clearly the necessity to define a standardization coefficient permitting further on the intercomparison between data from the literature.
