Effect of salinization rhizobium inoculation genotypic variation and phosphorus application on dry matter yield and utilization of phosphorus by pea pisum sativum l. and lentil lens culinaris medic

, : Effect of salinization rhizobium inoculation genotypic variation and phosphorus application on dry matter yield and utilization of phosphorus by pea pisum sativum l. and lentil lens culinaris medic. Journal of Nuclear Agriculture and Biology 19(4): 227-231

Irrigation with saline water significantly reduced the dry matter production and uptake of phosphorus in both pea and lentil crops. Between the two crops pea was found relatively more tolerant to a given level of salinity. Soil application of phosphate in association with Rhizobium inoculated seeds enhanced dry matter production, total P uptake, P derived from fertilizer and its utilization in both the crops. Amongst the cultivars tested, KPSD-5 of pea and PL-639 of lentil extracted native soil phosphorus more efficiently while cultivar Pusa-10 of pea and cultivar PL-406 of lentil showed more affinity towards applied phosphorus.
