Gonadotropic effect of the fungicide preparation fundazol new investigation methods

, : Gonadotropic effect of the fungicide preparation fundazol new investigation methods. Khigiena i Zdraveopazvane 31(3): 18-21

Two highly sensitive tests for evaluation of the effect of the toxic substances on male gonads have been approbated and recommended for the practice. A chronic experiment with fundazol was performed, perorally administered to male albino rats in doses 1000 mg/kg-1, 100 mg/kg-1 and 12.5 mg/kg-1-LD50-10,000 mg/kg-1, five times a week for four months. The proteolytic activity of acrosome of spermatozoa was studied. The data obtained are an evidence for a sharp increase of the number of spermatozoa without proteolytic activity, manifested in degrees depending on the doses applied. Single doses of 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 LD50 and fivefold 1/5 LD50 fundazol have been perorally administered to sexually mature hybrid mice obtained by crossing of C57BL (6 .times. BaLB) in order to establish the changes in the morphology of the head of spermatoozon. Cyclophosphamide 100 mg/kg-1 was used for the positive control. The results from the study reveal that fundazol is a positive inductor of changes in the morphology of the heads of spermatozoa after acute effect with doses 1/2 and 1/4 L50.
