Multiple primary cancers study of 140 cases

, : Multiple primary cancers study of 140 cases. Oncologia (Madrid) 14(1): 74-84

It is made a study with 140 patients diagnosed of multiple primary cancers (MPC) using a hospital tumor register (1980-1988) who represented a incidence nearly 1.35%; 12 of them had three different MPC. The mean aged was 64.1 years and ratio man/woman was 1.96. The most usually associations were between bladder-prostate (6.4%), breast-breast (5.7%) and bladder-kidney (4.2%). The previous treatment spread was local in larger of MPC in front of disseminate spread. The 45.5% of second neoplasms was syncronous (less than 6 months) respected the first ones. It has been studied the delayed diagnosis periods, it has not been founded any statistically difference between them and differents neoplasms cronologically appeared. We concluded with the great importance about early diagnosis of another MPC in patients who carried the first one.
