Personality and social situation in the context of tattooing results obtained from medico psychological examinations in dermatological practice

, : Personality and social situation in the context of tattooing results obtained from medico psychological examinations in dermatological practice. Zeitschrift fuer Klinische Medizin (Berlin) 45(17): 1485-1488

Sociological and personality questionnaires (MMPI) were used in examinations of 100 dermatological patients with additional tattooings and 100 non-tattooed controls. Evaluation by computer analysis revealed typical constellations of features and characteristics in tattooed probands. These included high nicotine consumption, delinquency, inadequate school leaving marks, and low educational levels. Statistically grouping of MMPI personality profiles exhibited inconspicuous distribution patterns for only 28 tattooed individuals. Correlations did clearly exist between the above constellation of characteristics and personality profiles.
