Statistical studies on bacterial isolates from the urine specimens of outpatients and their drug sensitivities report 1 studies concerning acute cystitis

, : Statistical studies on bacterial isolates from the urine specimens of outpatients and their drug sensitivities report 1 studies concerning acute cystitis. Nishinihon Journal of Urology 51(1): 39-42

Statistical studies were made of 309 bacterial strains isolated from outpatients with acute cystitis at the Department of Urology, Taijukai Kaisei Hospital between January 1981 and December 1986. The following results were obtained: 1) 309 bacterial strains were isolated. Escherichia coli was isolated the most frequently (69.5%), followed by Staphylococcus epidermidis (5.2%), St. aureus (4.5%) and Proteus spp. (4.2%). The occupation rate of gram negative rods was 82.5% and gram positive cocci was 13.9%. 2) E. coli was isolated the most frequently every year during those 6 years. 3) E. coli showed a high sensitivity to CTM, CEX, GM, AMK, ST, NA, PPA and NFLX, and it had a slightly lower sensitivity to ABPC and SBPC than to other drugs.
