Synthesis of cyclodextrin glucanotransferase by microorganisms that utilize cyclodextrins as their only source of carbon

, : Synthesis of cyclodextrin glucanotransferase by microorganisms that utilize cyclodextrins as their only source of carbon. Doklady Akademii Nauk SSSR 310(6): 1489-1492

The trophic features of microorganisms producing cyclizing enzymes were studied. Methods were developed for isolating these microorganisms from soil and other natural sources. Seventeen Bacillus macerans and Bacillus sp. cultures were tested. Data were presented on the composition of soil and maize extracts, the accumulation media based on .alpha.- and .beta.-cyclodextrin. It was shown that the capacity of microorganisms to utilize cyclodextrins as the only source of carbon in the majority of cases is combined with the synthesis of extracellular cyclodextrin glucanotransferase. The occurrence of the producers of this enzyme among soil microflora is comparatively frequent.
