The effect of immunosuppressors from phytophthora infestans on potato resistance

, : The effect of immunosuppressors from phytophthora infestans on potato resistance. Prikladnaya Biokhimiya i Mikrobiologiya 25(4): 532-539

The mycelium and excretion products of Phytophthora infestans races compatible with potato varieties under study contain water-soluble low-molecular weight glucanes that specifically suppress potato protective reactions such as race-variety resistance, the mechanism of the species immunity, and response to mechanical wounding. The glucanes-immunosuppressors promote the spreading of the infestant of both compatible and incompatible races over potato tubers. The glucanes damage the host plant immunosystems and make potato tubers sensitive to diseases that hitherto has not been dangerous for potato.
