A survey of specific IgG antibodies against respiratory syncytial virus F and G glycoproteins among children and adults in Beijing

, : A survey of specific IgG antibodies against respiratory syncytial virus F and G glycoproteins among children and adults in Beijing. Zhonghua Weishengwuxue He Mianyixue Zazhi 16(6): 442-446

Serum IgG antibodies specific to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) F and G glycoproteins were determined in children at various ages and adults in Beijing with indirect immunofluorescence technique by using F and G glycoproteins of RSV respectively expressed by the recombinant vaccinia. The results demonstrated that there were RSV antibody with only moderate titer and low level specific IgG antibodies against F and G glycoproteins in adults. The RSV antibody titers in neonates and infants decreased rapidly within 6 months after birth and then increased gradually with a maximum level at 7 apprx 14 years old. Although the titers of IgG antibodies specific to F and G glycoproteins fluctuated a little within the first 6 months of life, the absolute values were lower than that in old children. After 6 months the titers of antibodies to F and G glycoproteins rised gradually, especially the antibodies to F glycoprotein. The antibody titer reached its peak level at 3 apprx 7 years of age for F glycoprotein and at 7 14 years for G glycoprotein. From the correlative point of view, it suggests that RSV antibody correlates with F and G antibodies, but there is no correlation between F and G antibodies.
