Antibiotic activity in basidiomycetes. VI. Antibiotic activity of mycelia and cultural filtrates of thirty three new strains

, : Antibiotic activity in basidiomycetes. VI. Antibiotic activity of mycelia and cultural filtrates of thirty three new strains. Allionia (Turin) 31(0): 87-90

The author tested for antibiotic activity against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans, mycelia and cultural filtrates of 33 Basidiomycetes recently isolated from carpophore. The most active against the four bacteria species were Lepiota naucina n. 12, Ripartites helomorphus and Tricholoma nudum. The following fungi showed activity only against the bacteria listed: Fistulina hepatica, Polyporus sulphureus and Hypholoma fasciculare against Klebsiellia pneumoniae, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus; Macrolepiota procera, against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus; Tyromyces wynnei on Klebsiella pneumoniae and Bacillus suhtilis; Lepiota naucina n. 71 on Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus; against the two Gram + Merulius tremellosus, Polyporus betulinus n. 7 and n. 83, Clitocybe infundibuliformis, Clitocybe nebularis, Collybia fusipes, Galera siliginea n. 92, Hypholoma sublateritium n. 33 and n. 57 and Lycoperdon perlatum; Ganoderma applanatum, Galera siliginea n. 91 and Hebeloma longicaudum on Bacillus subtilis; Clitopilus prunulus on Staphylococcus aureus. None showed activity against Candida albicans. The results of tested strains were compared with the data concerning activity found in literature.
