Effect of BCG-PSN on level of interleukin 2 and tumor growth of bearing S180 sarcoma mice

, : Effect of BCG-PSN on level of interleukin 2 and tumor growth of bearing S180 sarcoma mice. Acta Academiae Medicinae Hubei 18(4): 305-307, Oct

Polysaccharides nucleic acid fraction of BCG (BCG-PSN) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) were used to treat bearing S180 sarcoma mice. It has been confirmed that both BCG-PSN and TNF-alpha can inhibit the growth of S180 solid sarcoma significantly, the inhibitory rates were 58.10% and 36.25% respectively. The level of interleukin 2 of splenocytes appeared to be in positive linear correlation with the inhibitory rates. BCG-PSN can also markedly prolong the living period of bearing S180 ascites sarcoma mice. TNF had no sinergistic antitumor activity in combination with BCG-PSN and the efficiency of inhibiting tumor growth of TNF was lower than that of BCG-PSN due to its side-effect, whereas BCG-PSN did not appear to produce any side-effect in this study.
