Effects of oil spills on the fauna and ecology of small mammals of the Central Ob region

, : Effects of oil spills on the fauna and ecology of small mammals of the Central Ob region. Ekologiya (Moscow) 0(2): 40-48

The effects of soil contamination due to oil spills in the Central Ob region in Russia on the fauna and ecology of species from the following genera were studied: Mus, Rattus, Clethrionomys, Microtus, Arvicola, Ondatra, Eutamias, Sciurus, Pteromys, Sicista, Sorex, Neomys, and Mustela. The population structure and morphological parameters of dominant species in a control area and in the contaminated region in various phases of population dynamics are characterized. A conclusion is made regarding the species specificity of the response to oil contamination.
