Gellan-related polysaccharides and the genus Sphingomonas

, : Gellan-related polysaccharides and the genus Sphingomonas. Journal of General Microbiology 139(8): 1939-1945

The biochemical and physiological characteristics of several different existing bacterial isolates which secrete gellan-related polysaccharides were compared. Although they were originally classified into diverse genera, these bacteria are shown here to he closely related to each other and to members of the genus Sphingomonas.
