Intensity of invertebrate penetration of the near-shore zone of a polyhumic lake in summer

, : Intensity of invertebrate penetration of the near-shore zone of a polyhumic lake in summer. Ekologia Polska 40(1): 127-144

Studies on the structure and intensity of epigeic fauna penetration of the water-land ecotone zone were carried out in summer in the near-shore zone of a woodland polyhumic lake in NE Poland. Catches of animals in sets of Barber traps placed at different distances from the lake shore line indicated that penetration of the lake-surrounding peat bog by epigeic microfauna is less intensive than that of the forest adjacent to peat bog. The differences between various microhabitats of the near-shore zone in the composition of their epigeic fauna associations were determined. Diurnal changes in the intensity of penetration of this zone by some invertebrates were recorded. The effects of biotic and abiotic factors on formation of the epigeic fauna associations in the near-shore zone were discussed.
