Intensity of lipid peroxidation and their fatty acid composition in Drosophila melanogaster strains differing in their adaptability

, : Intensity of lipid peroxidation and their fatty acid composition in Drosophila melanogaster strains differing in their adaptability. Zhurnal Evolyutsionnoi Biokhimii i Fiziologii 33(1): 12-16, Jan -Feb

Correlation between the intensity of lipid peroxidation and their fatty acid composition was studied in D. Melanogaster strains selected for differences in important adaptive characters. It was shown that long-term selection almost did not affect fatty acid composition and at the same time significantly changed lipid peroxidation intensity in the strains. No reliable correlation was observed between the characters studied for the age of 11 days which apparently points to differences in genetic control.
