Nuclear microprobe: Application to biology

, : Nuclear microprobe: Application to biology. Cellular Pharmacology 1(1): 25-29

Microanalysis with a nuclear microprobe is based on the nuclear and atomic interactions between an incident particle beam and the matter. Each kind of interaction leads to an analytical method which corresponds to a specific range of application. So, theorically all the chemical elements can be quantified with good sensitivity (1-10 mu-g/g) and can be located within a lateral resolution better than 1 mu-m. The physical principles of all these methods used simultaneously on a nuclear microprobe are described and illustrated with recent applications to biology.
