Powdery mildew of oak and its distribution within the stand canopy

, : Powdery mildew of oak and its distribution within the stand canopy. Lesovedenie 0(4): 61-70

Distribution and damage of powdery mildew for Quercus robur L. in oak forests of different age and type in the Tellerman forest massif (Voronezh province) have been studied. Leaf age and structure, position of leaves in the crown, degree of defoliation and refoliation of oak together with weather conditions are found leading factors of developing the disease. A new method to identify the disease and estimate a degree of leaf damage along the vertical profile of the canopy has been suggested. It has been applied and tested for estimating damage of a stand by phytophagous insects.
