Radiocesium (137Cs) from the Chernobyl reactor in Eurasian woodcock and earthworms in Norway

, : Radiocesium (137Cs) from the Chernobyl reactor in Eurasian woodcock and earthworms in Norway. Journal of Wildlife Management 58(1): 141-147

A study was conducted to investigate the ecological effects of the Chernobyl reactor accident of 1986. Radiocesium levels were measured in Eurasian woodcock (Scolopax rusticola), earthworms (Lumbricidae), litter, humus, and mineral soil samples from a heavily affected area in Norway. The results indicated that the highest concentrations of radiocesium found in earthworms and woodcock were below levels that should affect animal health. .
