Recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rhGM-CSF) therapy for delayed engraftment following bone marrow transplantation for leukaemia

, : Recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rhGM-CSF) therapy for delayed engraftment following bone marrow transplantation for leukaemia. Periodicum Biologorum 95(3): 347-354

Six patients with leukaemia who underwent allogeneic (3 patients) or autologous BMT (3 patients) received rhGM-CSF 250 mcg/m-2/day i.v. as therapy for delayed engraftment. All patients responded. The increase in neutrophil count first occurred between days 3 and 6 of rhGM-CSF treatment. Neutrophil count gt 0.5 times 10-9/l was reached between 5 and 11 days in allogeneic BMT patients and between 9 and 14 days in the ABMT group.
