The influence of cardiopulmonary bypass on human humoral and cellular immune function change


, : The influence of cardiopulmonary bypass on human humoral and cellular immune function change. Journal of China Medical University 21(3): 210-214

In this prospective study, the perioperative immune function change of 16 patients (10 of adults, group A; 6 of children, group B) was observed to evaluate the influence of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) on it. Immune function tests were made before operation and 1, 4 and 7 days after operation similar immune function change was observed within these two groups. The results indicated that immune function was decreased significantly after CPB at first hour and recovered to preoperative level on week later, except peripheral white blood cell count was significantly increased postoperatively, so aseptic manipulation should be reinforced in postoperative care, and active antiinflammatory and supporting therapy for one week after operation are important to infection prevention and early recovery.
