The little known species Malus asiatica (Rosaceae)

, : The little known species Malus asiatica (Rosaceae). Botanicheskii Zhurnal (Stsburg). 1991; 76(5): 715-720

New information on Malus asiatica is presented. It was found that M. asiatica is a cultigen, a combination of many other forms of apple trees grown in Korea, Japan, and China. The fruits are 3-5 cm in diameter, yellow or red, and sweet-sour. They ripen in summer and have a short peduncle that does not exceed the diameter of the apple.
