Unusual representation of the chronic myelogenous leukemia

, : Unusual representation of the chronic myelogenous leukemia. Acta Haematologica Polonica 29(1): 127-132

We described a case of a 48-year-old male patient with chronic myelogenous leukaemia (CML) and associated chloroma-multiple hard, red, painful (diameter 0.5-1.0 cm) nodules which had different localization (scalp, face, back, chest, upper and lower limbs, abdomen). Chloroma preceded the development of overt CML by about 2-3 months. The patient was submitted to chemotherapy (Hydrea, ARA-C, Rubidomycin, Intron A) which had no influence on chloroma. Three months since diagnosis of CML the patient had a blastic crisis coexisting with renal failure resistant to intensive myelosuppressive therapy. In our opinion the coexistence of the chloroma and CML gives poor prognosis for life.
