Storm brewing over misconduct definition

, : Storm brewing over misconduct definition. Science 275: 7

A new federal definition of scientific misconduct being prepared by the White House Committee on Fundamental Sciences may be much narrower than current rules. According to a source involved in several misconduct cases, the definition is limited to fabrication or falsification of data and plagiarism. Staff at the National Science Foundation (NSF) have expressed concern about the dropping of the fourth category of "other serious deviations" currently used by the NSF and the Department of Health and Human Services.
