Densitometric determination of S-carboxymethylcysteine in syrup, and validation of the method

, : Densitometric determination of S-carboxymethylcysteine in syrup, and validation of the method. Journal of Planar Chromatography - Modern TLC 11(4): 263-266, July-Aug

A simple and rapid densitometric method has been developed for determination of S-carboxymethylcysteine in syrup preparations. After dilution of the syrup preparation with a 4:1 mixture of a 96% alcohol and ammonia, the solutions were spotted on precoated silica gel plates which were then developed with n-butanol-glacial acetic acid-water, 3 + 1 + 1 (v/v) as mobile phase. Quantitative evaluation was performed by measuring the absorbance reflectance of the analyte spots at lambda = 487 nm. The densitometric method is selective, precise, and accurate and so can be used for routine analysis of the syrup preparations in pharmaceutical industry quality-control laboratories.
