Direct sowing mulch-based cropping systems, mostly with crop residues that protect soil between two successive cultures have been adopted to fight against soil degradation i.e. wind or water erosion. Thereafter, to face situations where the crop residues disappear quickly (tropical humid climate or residues removal) living covers have been proposed.
