Introduction: Arthrosic cartilage and in vitro chondrocytes release more nitric oxide (NO) than cartilage and normal chondrocytes. The NO probably has a pernicious effect on the articular cartilage. At present some components of the extracellular matric (CEM) of the cartilage are used for the treatment of arthrosis. Aim: To study the effect of different CEM on the production of NO by human arthrosic chondrocytes.
